Chiropractic adjustments

Adjustments, or manipulation as they’re sometimes referred to, are the minor movement of vertebrae in the spine. The objective of this movement is to realign vertebrae that have moved out of place for a number of reasons ranging from normal daily activity to trauma such as a car accident.

When these vertebrae are out of place, it has an overall systemic effect from muscular to the central nervous system. Without proper alignment and flow of all nerves and systems in the body from the brain, we can’t function at our peak.

An adjustment is often a pressure from the chiropractor utilizing the hands or an instrument to move a vertebrae back into place. This happens with a quick movement and is often without discomfort. You may hear a noise that sounds like you’re cracking your knuckles referred to as joint cavitation. It is the release of gases such as oxygen and nitrogen from the joint.

Overall, adjustments are an excellent way to keep the body functioning at its highest level. When the body is in alignment, the body is able to respond and perform as it was designed.

Graston Technique®

Graston Technique® is an innovative form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables the doctor to effectively break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions. The technique utilizes specially designed stainless steel instruments to specifically detect and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation. This technique is used to:

  • Decreases overall time of treatment
  • Foster faster rehabilitation/recovery
  • Prevent sports injuries

Dry Needling

Dry Needling is an extremely effective technique that uses an acupuncture needle to “release” painful or knotted areas in your muscles. Many of us have areas in our body with muscle tension or “Trigger Points” By inserting an acupuncture needle into these tight areas, we elicit a “twitch response” followed by an immediate and long lasting relaxation. Because the needle can treat very deep parts of the muscle, the technique can achieve great pain relief. Dry needling not only helps pain relief but can be effective to heal overuse sports injuries, help improve muscle healing time, improve blood flow, and stimulate a muscle to work better.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying sustained pressure into the muscle, fascia, and connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore normal range of motion.

Dr. Hankel is trained in various taping procedures. The type of taping used is dependent on the type of injury as well as performance goals. Taping can be used to decreased bruising/swelling, decrease pain, help rehabilitation, stabilize injuries, and/or improve posture. Dr. Hankel is a certified advanced Rock Tape Doc.
